The dagger scene

The dagger scene. This scene is one of the most important parts of the play. However as a director tho the play you have to make a decision. To have a dagger or to not have a dagger. If i was a director I would choose to make Macbeth look crazy and have no dagger. Many directors have chosen to show the dagger, but many haven't. Lets just take a little time to talk about why i would choose to have no dagger in this scene. Well for starters Macbeth is going through a tough time, and what likely happens when people are stressed is they start acting a little crazy. Macbeth in my opinion needs to show that all this stress and craziness inside of him need to show. When a person's conscience is bothering them deeply they often have different scenarios running throughout their kind. So perhapsMacbeth  at this stage is imagining a dagger before him. After being introduced to Lady Macbeth we have come to learn that she has boiled up a lot of cruelty in her heart. Perhaps though some of her cruelty has rubbed off onto Macbeth and caused him to turn a little cruel. I believe that Macbeth may be dealing with regrets to him and Lady Macbeth's plan, and his imagination is relieving him of his stress. There are many opinion to this matter, but this is mine.

Remaining Faithful a Short Story I wrote

Remaining Faithful

By: Rebekah Gorham

The constant banging continues to go forth. What I don’t understand is why me? Why any of us? All I am doing is having faith, and what’s wrong with faith? In these times faith is actually what we need. My father gulps scared as he walks towards the door. What will become of my family? Papa’s hand grasps the door, and he stops. I try to imagine some of the thoughts that are rummaging through his mind. Papa sighs as he tightens his grip around the knob, and turns it. The door opens with such force that it pushes Papa to the ground with a thump. “Papa!” Katyusha and I frantically scream as we rush to Papa’s side. Katyusha’s little arms wrap themselves around Papa’s torso. The winds return to Papa as his eyes blink open with disbelief.

Davai! (Russian for go on, keep moving)” One of the officers yells as he walks in the room, others following behind him. His deathly grip strangles me as he lifts me to my feet. I choke and my throat starts gurgling. “Stop!” yells Papa. “The child has no decision on the matter, but it is I who will make the decisions for my family.” The officer drops me from my collar, and I tumble to the floor. The officer rummages through our kitchen drawers, taking the silver cutlery that once belonged to my now dead grandmother. His cigarette drops from his mouth on to the floor; it leaves a black scar on the floor. The thick toe of his boot smashes the light out of the cigarette. Like that cigarette we were going to get the light taken out of us, we were going to be smashed cigarettes.

The officer walks towards a table, and takes a seat on my father’s chair. He mutters in Russian, “Do sit.” Father stands up, and he discreetly walks towards the officer. “Sit.” He says loudly as he gestures towards the chair. Papa obeys. The officer’s tone isn’t as cruel or harsh as it was before. It is quite strange how someone could change over a matter of seconds.

The officer places a paper upon the table. His wide fingers slowly slide the paper, across the table, towards Papa.  Papa looks down at the form. The officer’s finger flicks a pen across the table. “Sign and I will grant you your freedom.” The officer taunts. Father lightly places the pen back on the paper, and he pushes the form back to the officer. “Sir if you do not sign this paper, you and your daughters will have to be deported.” He says confused. Father stands up, and he wraps an arm around each of me and Katyusha’s shoulder. “My apologies sir, but I cannot sign this form.” The officer is stricken by surprise. “You would rather be deported then have freedom?” He asks with a raised eyebrow. “Officer I do not wish to be deported, but I cannot disobey my god either.” My father says as he raises his arm up to the heavens. “Very well then.” He grumbles. “Twenty minutes to pack!” He shouts. His tone has changed once again.

An hour later my sister, Papa, and I stand in front of one of the cattle carts. Papa had to bribe an officer with his wedding ring, a pocket watch, and a gold chain to stay with us. I look up to the evening night’s sky. The stars are twinkling brighter than they have ever been before. God please help me. Please help me to stay faithful to you.

ISU description of Drawing

Lina is a character from a novel called Between Shades of Gray. Lina isn’t the average teenage girl. Lina has had to undergo many problem that none of us will probably never have to face in our lifetime. Lina started off as an innocent teenage girl. She was just like us. However Lina isn’t an innocent teenage girl anymore, but now she has grown up even though it has been only ten months. She is still fifteen, but why is she grown up? Lina was taken I mean stolen from her home. She was forced into unliveable circumstances, and into an inhuman lifestyle. She isn’t the same person she was ten months ago. She has experiences cruelty, murder, sickness, insanity, and starvation all in one week. Don’t you think that after ten months she has the mind of an adult? Lina can’t be a child anymore. She has to think and act like a grown up if she wants to survive.

Lina is hard working. She puts all the effort and strength she has for making a small food ration. All the food she is allowed to have per day is three hundred grams. “If Jonas received bread for working indoor on shoes, we must certainly be getting an entire turkey, I thought. “We are entitled to three hundred grams of bread for our work” explained Jonas.” Pg.132.  Don’t you understand what I mean by inhuman living conditions? Lina has to work hard labour every day. She works full days. She has to deal with horrible work without receiving barely any food or water. The work she does takes away her strength, and causes her to be like some slave. If she doesn’t work Lina will starve to death. Without doing hard work you don’t get any food, and we all now we need food to survive. Lina is hard working so she can live. She works for the sake of her own life.

What you can also tell from the picture is that Lina is close to death. I don’t mean she is standing next to the guy with the black cloak on with the scythe. What I mean is that since Lina is so close to starvation, over working, and the chance of being murdered she could die any minute now. She is lucky to have survived these ten months.  “Was it harder to die, or harder to be the one who survived?” The NKVD have been starving her, overworking her, and they have almost killed her. Lina is so skinny from hardly having anything to eat. There is a hollow pit where her stomach should be. Everyone in the labour camp is close to death. If your family was sent to a labour camp, the chances of any of you surviving would be few. If anyone survived it would most likely be a small few.

Another trait that is shown is this picture is hope, yes hope. Lina has hope, and it is a marvellous treasure to have. How could someone like Lina continue to have hope from what she has been through? If you don’t have hope your chance of death could be more likely. You could give up on your life, and if you gave up in the labour camps you would be killed. Here there is no backing down. Even if you are exhausted, sick, or starving you need hope to keep you going through the day. Lina hopes to go home, be in Andrius’ arms, see her father, and see her cousin Joana. “Like mother, I tried to think of the positive. I thought of Andrius. I could still hear his voice. At least we had left the commander and Kretskey behind. I hoped we would be somewhere near Krasnoyarsk, closer to Papa.” Pg. 250. Having the memories of what she hopes for gives her the strength to go on. Each night Lina looks at her family photo, her fingers trace the outline of her father’s face. Just seeing her father one more time even if it is through a photo gives Lina strength. And strength is what Lina needs.

My Intrest of Piano

Everyone has their own interests. One of my biggest interests in piano. I love the sounds it makes the feeling of my fingers dancing across the ivory keys, and the competitions I take. I have been playing piano for a number of years now, and it is most likely the hobby that makes me the most joyful.
I can create beautiful music, and play sheet music that was written hundreds of years ago. Although the piano isn't the only instrument I play it is my favorite.
I have a piano teacher named Andrew Furmanczyk.
My favorite pieces to play are ones that are either incredibly fast, or ones that include a lot of emotion. The emotion is a way that I can express how I feel, and the fast pieces make me laugh and smile. I do not understand how anyone would be able to hate music. To me it is the most wonderful thing in the world.
My piano teacher's page is a way how many people come to know who he is. He is a bit on a interney movie star. Thankfully I am one of those few lucky students who get to study music with him.
Thanks to Andrew I have a never ending love for piano.

Media Analysis

We watched a movie about copyright. This movie was bringing points up to us that we may never have realized before. Maybe we already know what he is talking about, and maybe we don't. It's a bias kind of situation. Well anyway back on topic. I'm going to tell you about what I learned. What I got through this film documentary from my own perspective. The main point I got from this is that copyright is going completely out of hand. The reason, greed. Yes greed. You may not understand what I mean unless you have actually gone into depth about this copyright situation. However let me discuss this with you briefly. The copyright industry is sewing people for copyright, but honestly we all know that. What we don't know is that they sew people for copyright so they can take in large amounts of money. Like I said earlier they do this because of greed. The law of copyright was made so others could realize who created or invented certain things. You would get fined if you took an invention and called it your own. You see this law was created so people could realize who made what and so that people could create their own invention based off of ideas they got from others. You see how this works? Do you also see how the copyright industry now has completely rearranged how this law works? They sewed people for making a book on how to draw Mickey Mouse for pity's sake. This movie is bringing this matter to our attention so we could make it right. We should be able to use other people's ideas to make our own things without getting fined. That is why the law was made after all.

In this movie the film actor introduced quite a lot of different characters. Each with their own different perspective on the copyright matter. I am going to bring up two different characters from this film. One was an older woman. I can't recall her name, but what she said is quite more important. So the film actor decided to interview her. He showed her how a remixer named Girl Talk created a remix to an Elvis song. However before showing the song to the woman he asked her about her view on copyright. He asked her if she believed that copyright was getting out of hand. She replied with a yes. She felt the same way as I do. She felt that they are sewing too many people and it's all for the sake of earning more money. The film maker then showed her the Remix of Elvis's song. The woman's opinion on the song wasn't positive. Neither was mine actually. She felt like Girl Talk had made Elvis's song into his own. What she did admire though was his creativity. However she did believe that Girl Talk should have made his own type of song based off of Elvis's song. Not actually using Elvis's song, and completely rearranging it. Another character that the film actor introduced was Girl Talk himself. Yes Girl Talk is a man. He is a remixer. He takes all sorts of songs, and he rearranges them therefore making them into a remix. He is actually amazing. Even though he is making his own things based off of other people's ideas, and he even mention him, he still can get major fines. He could get fined so much that he would never be able to pay of that debt in his entire lifetime. And all he did was remix a song. Do you understand now how copyright is completely out of control.

Another thing I learned from this movie is about different people's perspectives. This movie was bias. It showed everyone's different perspectives. Some people felt that whole copyright situation was fine the way it was and many people find that it is completely out of control. I feel like it is completely out of control. Just stating my own opinion here. Although this movie took place in so many different location it seems that everyone's perspectives we all tied in some way. They all felt the same way some how, but they all expressed it in different formats. Copyright IS out of control, and most of us have actually realized it. We need to do something about it, and you know that, I even know that. Let's change how copyright works, and lets form the copyright law back to how it was supposed to be used.
